DON’T WORRY TOO MUCH ABOUT PEOPLE
(A MESSAGE TO MY DAUGHTERS)

Don’t worry too much about people.

They change their minds with the trends.

They will use you and abuse you
And wonder why you don’t call them a “friend.”

Don’t worry too much about people.

They will say they need you, plead to you
And pass you up when the goal post bends.

Don’t worry too much about people.

They just want to hurt you, insert in you
A lifetime of insecurity, doubt.

They just want to shout, to blame

You, you, always you!

Don’t worry too much about people.

They ask what you can do for them
And never the other way around.

Don’t worry too much about people.

Silence is better without all the sound.
