CHRISTMAS MOURN

(EXPECTED, BUT NOT
RECEIVED)

the shape

of life distorted

stumbles

speech slurred

like lines

in the painter’s

fog of

the mind

catacombs

heart

yelling

valve teeth

gut twist

bile

acid

society

nimbly

wrenchingly

-year-old

who scrawled

paint crayon

book wall

and presented

it with a joy

on a searing

july-like

christmas

an uncertain

sailor

legs wobbly

rendering

of the gray

monotone

of the

eclipsing

dusk-drawn

open

in the

discarded

understanding

the cold

shoulder

presents

to the I

like a five-

gibberish

over a

beloved

expected,

but not received

by cranky-eyed parents

mourn.
